Ocean Park Launches Adventure Camp Summer 2020

2020-07-07

New Exploration Lets Kids Transform into Little Veterinarian or Animal Caretaker and Uncover Animal Mysteries through Five Senses

Ocean Park presents Adventure Camp Summer 2020 and registration will open soon on 14 July 2020. Engaging the five senses, the programmes will take children aged 6 to 11 on an exploratory a journey to observe and discover the fascinating features and habits of animals. Explorers will become little animal caretakers, little veterinarians or even junior journalists as they undertake fun and creative activities, while interacting with the Park’s animal ambassadors to broaden their awareness of the wonders of nature.

Each programme is filled with exciting interactive activities, from creating enrichment items for Ocean Park’s brand new animal ambassadors – the meerkats and Aldabra giant tortoises; feeding the lovely penguins; visiting polar animals; to attending educational seal demonstrations. Moreover, each programme is injected with art creation elements to inspire creative thinking, and is designed to help children enhance their ability to express and solve problems.

Four Adventure Programmes for Children Aged 6-11
Four unique half-day intensive programmes have been specially curated for two different age groups. These include two Junior Walkers programmes for kids aged 6-8 and two Adventurous Walkers programmes for those aged 9-11.

For Junior Walkers (Aged 6-8), Team Whiskers explorers will be involved in the professional animal care team’s daily routine, become little veterinarians and conduct mock animal surgery to understand the secrets behind animal care. Team Mark explorers will visit the homes of polar animals and prepare snacks for penguins, while also becoming junior journalists to create stories documenting their precious moments spent with the polar animals.
Adventurous Walkers (Aged 9-11) will be grouped into Team Aqua and Team Earth. Team Aqua will explore Ocean Theatre’s back-of-house area to understand marine animals’ habitat, and become little animal caretakers to try the unique methods for communicating with bottlenose dolphins. Team Earth explorers will embark on an African adventure and visit the meerkats and Aldabra giant tortoises, the Park’s new animal ambassadors, to learn about their habitat and daily habits.

Strengthened Anti-Epidemic Measures
To provide a healthy learning environment for participants, Ocean Park has fully upgraded hygiene measures across the board. All children will be required to undergo body temperature check, sanitise their hands before each lesson and wear masks in class. Class capacity for each programme has also been reduced by half to no more than 12 children per class.
