Golden Age Volunteer Programme

The Golden Age volunteer programme was launched by Ocean Park since 2016 to promote volunteerism in the community and to encourage local retirees to join our conservation force. By 2023, Ocean Park has recruited over eighty retirees to participate in this programme. 

Requirement

  1. Interested in animal and nature conservation 
  2. Possess a valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card  
  3. Fluent in Cantonese. English and/or Mandarin is also preferred
  4. 45 years of age or above
  5. Be willing to communicate and interact
  6. Be willing to volunteer as a docent at Ocean Park on weekdays/weekends/public holiday

* Selected volunteer will be required to attend the Golden Age Volunteer Training Workshop to learn animal knowledge and guided touring skills

Service Scope

  1. Exhibition guiding service: Introducing fun facts about animals to visitors in the animal exhibition halls within the park, promoting messages of nature conservation 
  2. Conservation-themed booth: Hosting conservation-themed booths and sharing animal conservation knowledge with visitors through various props and games 
  3. Animal care: Assisting professional animal caregivers in taking care of the daily lives of animals within the park 
  4. Others: Outreach conservation workshops, and countryside park cleaning activities 

Volunteer Recognition

Ocean Park will hold an annual recognition ceremony for the "Golden Age Volunteer Programme", Service Hour Awards will be presented during the ceremony.

* Volunteers who have accumulated a total of 80 service hours throughout the year will also receive Ocean Park or Water Park tickets as an encouragement.
* The number of tickets awarded will be depends on the total number of their accumulated service hours.
