Kindergarten Teacher Training ProgrammePrimary, Secondary Teacher Training Programme

OPAHK offers themed in-park teacher training programmes, enabling teachers to master Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through experiential learning, seamlessly integrating environmental education into school curricula. This training programme may also be counted towards continuing professional development hours.

Exploring a Sustainable Future

  • Experience the on-site teaching design and activity flow at the Park to deepen teachers’ understanding of how the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) are applied in Ocean Park‘s programmes, and strengthen awareness of sustainability

  • Visit the Hong Kong Marine Life Stranding and Education Centre and the behind-the-scenes facilities of Grand Aquarium to deepen teachers’ understanding of the Park‘s conservation and animal-rescue work and inspire teachers to extend environmental education into school-based curricula by real-life cases

  • Experience the daily duties of animal keepers and, through hands-on practice, understand the challenges and significance behind animal rescue, enabling teachers to gather first-hand conservation knowledge and transform it into engaging educational resources for students

Programme Format: Narrations in exhibits; Behind-the-scenes visit

Life Planning in OP

  • Use the diverse range of onsite roles at Ocean Park as real-life case studies to help teachers gain a deeper understanding of the “VASK” framework (value, attitude, skills, knowledge) in career-planning education, and equip them with practical materials and resources that can be directly applied in school-based career-planning programmes

  • Through guided visits to Ocean Park’s behind-the-scenes facilities, learn about and experience the daily operations of different departments, gain a multi-perspective understanding of how professional skills are integrated with conservation practice, and translate first-hand career information into teaching tools that inspire students to plan their futures

  • Gain in-depth insight into specialist areas such as animal care, engineering, and life-support systems, and see how each department supports the Park’s operations and conservation work, helping teachers enrich personal-growth and career-planning lessons with authentic “real-workplace” scenarios

Programme Fortmat: Behind-the-scenes visit; Interview with professional teams
