Ocean Park’s Carnival-themed Float Makes its First Public Appearance Whiskers & Friends Celebrate the Year of the Dog with Everyone in Town

2018-02-14

In celebration of the Year of the Dog, Ocean Park has created a carnival-themed float for the 2018 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board on 16 February 2018. Together with 30 student dancers from the Island Dance School Hong Kong, giant animal-shaped inflatables and stilt performers, the Park’s mascots, Whiskers & Friends, will dress up in Chinese New Year outfits for the first time and bring the best new year wishes to everyone.

From 16 to 25 February 2018, Ocean Park Lunar Lucky Fiesta will present guests with an array of festive decorations, attractions and performances. The Park has invited Chio-Tian Folk Drums & Arts Troupe from Taiwan to stage a spectacular performance, Divine Drums Celebration, at Applause Pavilion six times a day to surround guests with eye-opening Taiwanese Folk Temple rituals through innovative stage productions. In addition, two special animal programmes will be offered on specific days during Chinese New Year.  These include Animal Fun Talk – Arctic Fox, in which guests will learn more about arctic foxes and the threats they are facing in the wild; and Know More about Guide Dogs, an educational talk fully supported by the Hong Kong Seeing Eye Dog Services to enhance public understanding of guide dogs and how Ocean Park creates a theme park for all with facilities for guide dogs.

Ocean Park is also partnering with YMCA FARM to hold a Nostalgic New Year Bazaar which offers a variety of nostalgic handmade products for selection and classic Hong Kong street food for feasting. Moreover, the popular Mine Train presented by Samsung Gear VR, VR Arcade and VR Challenges Zone will continue to add thrill to every day-time park visit during the Lunar New Year.

Even more exciting, Ocean Park Chill Night Out will be back for the first ten days of the Year of the Dog. From 16 to 25 February 2018, guests can enjoy free admission between 7pm and 11pm to the Waterfront Plaza, Old Hong Kong presented by Kee Wah Bakery, Lakeside Chill and Neptune's Restaurant.
