Ocean Park Halloween Bash Yan Oi Tong Charity Preview Night

2007-09-28

(Hong Kong -- 27th September 2007) To kick-off the one of the world’s biggest Halloween events of the year, Ocean Park teamed up with Yan Oi Tong to host a spectacular, East-meets-West themed Charity Preview Night for Ocean Park Halloween Bash . All donations raised by Yan Oi Tong will go towards the “Elderly Care Fund”. The event was hosted by Ocean Park’s Queen of Darkness Miss Luna Midnyte, and Chairman Dr. Allan Zeman, who appeared as a “supersized” Chung Kwai, the famed Chinese Ghostbuster, and made a roaring entrance accompanied by an engine-revving entourage on Harley Davidson motorcycles. Among those in attendance were VIP donors, beneficiaries, business partners, members of the media, Celebrity Yan Oi Ambassadors Denise Ho and Edmund Leung as well as celebrities guests Joey Yung, Jaycee Chan and Kenny Kwan, who all joined hands to be the first in the city to brave the spine-chilling haunted attractions of Ocean Park Halloween Bash, including seven haunted houses and a cast of 250 ghostly characters.

Ocean Park was the first to bring Halloween entertainment to Hong Kong in 2001, and Ocean Park Halloween Bash is now the largest and most highly-attended Halloween event in the world, attracting a record attendance of more than 500,000 last year. This year, in addition to Privilege Dinner Combos*, for the first time ever curious guests at Ocean Park Halloween Bash can go on Behind-the-Scenes Tours at Dementia and The Last Stop, for a fascinating glimpse into the special effects, animatronics, and costume creation behind two world-class haunted houses at a blockbuster Halloween party. Over at Kids’ World, “Family Trick or Treat” will be held every weekend and public holiday throughout the Halloween Bash event period, so the little ones have the chance to dress up in their favourite scary costumers with their parents, and collect goodie bags filled with treats and surprises!

“Ever since our first  Ocean Park Halloween Bash, the event has been a must-go event on the Hong Kong calendar for locals and tourists alike, and it just keeps getting bigger and better; in fact, we have been breaking record attendance every October, for the past six years,” said Dr. Zeman. “We are honoured to team up with Yan Oi Tong for our Charity Preview Night to help raise funds for those in need this year, while offering them something ‘a little different’ at the same time, with a first taste of the Ocean Park Halloween Bash experience. We’re offering unbeatable value for money with 250 roving cast characters, seven haunted attractions, and even the off-chance to see me dressed up as a Chinese ghostbuster, and I am confident we will keep our guests coming back for more. So hurry up and get your tickets now because they are selling fast!”

“Tonight has been an extraordinary evening for us and our guests, and we are truly grateful for the world-class entertainment and public service provided by Ocean Park tonight,” said Mr. Yam Tak Cheung, Chairman of Yan Oi Tong, “Without a doubt, being a part of the Ocean Park Halloween Bash preview event will leave a lasting impression and plenty of fun memories for our donors and beneficiaries.”

“We’d like to thank all our guests and supporters for joining us at Ocean Park tonight, especially our Celebrity Ambassadors Denise Ho and Edmund Leung,” added Mr. Marcus Wong, Director and Programme Chairman of Yan Oi Tong, “And most of all many thanks to Ocean Park, for putting on such an amazing show and lending a hand to help us kick off our fundraising initiatives.”

The seventh annual Ocean Park Halloween Bash takes place every Friday, Saturday and Public Holiday starting 28 September. With more than 250 ghosts, zombies, and dancing corpses running amok, seven all-new haunted attractions, 10 stage shows with 40 daily performances, and 40 Halloween attractions in addition to the Park’s regular offerings, Ocean Park Halloween Bash is raising the bar to unprecedented heights in terms of thrills, scares, production scale, and value for money.

On Ocean Park Halloween Bash nights, the free Route 888 shuttle service between the Main Entrance and Tai Shue Wan Entrance, and Citybus Route 629 to Admiralty, will both run till 12 midnight. The fare for Route 629 is $10.60.
