Habitat
They live in tropical rainforests. During the tadpole stage, they inhabit the forest streams.

Fun Facts
These toads are named after the triangular skin flaps that project from their eyelids and noses. Together with their brown skin colour and the ridges along their bodies, these toads are well camouflaged among the dead leaves on the forest floor. Hiding among leaf litter helps them hunt, evade predators such as snakes and birds, and reducing water loss during the day.
During the tadpole stage, they have a large, funnel-like mouth that draws water in. Their gills then filter tiny food particles from the water.

Pollution
Long-nosed horned toads are sensitive to habitat degradation, and their tadpoles need clean forest streams to survive. However, agriculture and urban development leads to habitat loss and may cause water pollution. Adult toads are also captured for pet trade.
